Calcutta University PhD Admission 2026 Begins for 32 Subjects

The admission notice covers subjects and departments including Electronic Science, Chemistry, Commerce, English, Business Management, and Computer Science & Engineering. It also says the number of seats in each subject, supervisor-wise vacancy position, and reservation roster will be notified separately before the selection interview.

Eligibility includes a Master’s degree with 55% marks, a four-year Bachelor’s degree with research and 75% marks, or equivalent qualifications in the concerned subject. A 5% relaxation is available for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled/EWS candidates and other categories notified by the UGC. Candidates in the final semester or year may apply provisionally, but final mark sheets or degree certificates are required before interview or admission.

  • The prescribed application form must be downloaded and printed without alteration.
  • Filled forms must be submitted with self-attested copies of supporting documents.
  • Selection includes qualification in UGC-NET/CSIR-NET/SET/GATE/GPAT or another national-level examination, followed by an interview before the Departmental Committee.
  • NET Category-1 (JRF) candidates are assessed by interview only.
  • NET Category-2 and 3 candidates carry 70% weightage for the qualifying exam score and 30% for the interview.
  • Foreign nationals are exempt from the entrance test and are considered on research proposal subject to minimum eligibility and AIU/UGC equivalence certificate.
  • The last date is stated as the 15th working day from publication of the notice.
