Purpose of CSIR UGC NET 2026
The Joint CSIR-UGC NET is a national-level examination conducted by NTA twice a year for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for:
- Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) — financial support for PhD research
- Assistant Professor / Lectureship (LS) — eligibility for teaching in colleges and universities
- PhD Admission — direct admission to PhD programmes in Indian universities
- Assistant Professor + PhD Admission — combined eligibility track
